Chris Zimmerman, Chairperson
Chris Zimmerman is Director of Transformation for a software company, Diligent. Prior to that, he was the Associate Director of Performance Improvement at CrossCountry Consulting, a management consulting company based in Washington, DC. Chris has over a decade of experience working with business leaders to improve their organizations through the design and adoption of new processes, technologies, and organizational structures to appropriately align the operating model of a company to overall business strategy across a multitude of industries.
Earning a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame, Chris also has an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, with a concentration in Strategy and Finance. Chris is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma honors society for business excellence. Chris lives in the Dupont Circle neighborhood in Washington, DC and spends his time devoted to numerous educational and environmental organizations.
Dana Baughns serves as Assistant General Counsel at Allegis Group, Inc., the largest privately held staffing company in the United States. Ms. Baughns also serves as General Counsel and Secretary to MarketSource, Inc., an Allegis Operating Company specializing in outsourced, integrated sales and marketing solutions to more than 200 companies worldwide. Ms. Baughns collaborates with senior level executives, business partners, and managers to deliver the best employment law practices and strategic solutions to meet business objectives across the Allegis corporate footprint. She has extensive experience counseling employers on a variety of labor and federal employment law issues and has a broad range of experience litigating and defending federal employment law claims and negotiating collective bargaining and commercial agreements.
Ms. Baughns attended Howard University in Washington, DC where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and later received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut. Ms. Baughns is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut, Federal District of Connecticut, and Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York.
Ms. Baughns currently serves as a member of the Equal Employment Advisory Council (“EEAC”) Executive Board and Board of Directors. She was also recently elected to serve as a founding director for the Children’s Guild Ltd. DC Public Charter School. She currently lives in Washington DC with her husband Jules Baughns and their two children Jared and Ava.
LaTonia Smith Cokely
Ms. Cokely has over 10 years of teaching experience with experience in Baltimore City, Montgomery County and DC schools. She currently works as a Manager, Professional Development Equity and Elementary Education with the Center for Inspired Teaching where she provides in person training and instructional coaching. She has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland, College Park and an Educational Leadership Certification Cohort from Hood College.
John Ferguson, PHR
John Ferguson is the Director, Human Resources for Monumental Sports & Entertainment, which owns and operates the Washington Capitals (NHL), Washington Wizards (NBA), Washington Mystics (WNBA) and Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. John started his career in Human Resources working for Hyatt Hotels. Originally from Mauldin, South Carolina, John has his Bachelor of Arts from Furman University.
Lesley Nesmith MA, OTR/L, ATP
Ms. Nesmith is a seasoned developmental therapist who has mastered the ability to be adept at quickly earning the trust, confidence, and respect to build positive relationships with clients, colleagues, senior management and key decision makers in educational and community-based settings while managing multiple projects simultaneously. She is an Assistive Technology Specialist and has several years of experience in this field along with Occupation Therapy. She graduated with a Master of Arts, Education and Human Development, Educational Technology Leadership from the George Washington University.
Mr. Reaves has over 10 years of experience partnering with clients, internal departments, and senior management to develop strategies and implement solutions focused on driving growth and achieving performance goals. Leverages solid leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with all levels of staff, management, and external parties, focusing on consistently delivering positive experiences to strengthen relationships, build loyalty, and drive growth. Demonstrated the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to analyze financial performance and business operations while implementing controls and processes with emphasis on productivity improvement and driving results. Equipped with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a wealth of progressive experience in corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, process analysis, strategy development, and accounting.
Ms. Samuels has a background in integrated communications, digital marketing, and social mission. She is currently the Member Benefit Communications Director for AARP and is responsible for establishing the strategy and vision for the organization overseeing a team that executes a range of marketing tactics to improve member awareness, engagement, and retention. She has a Master’s degree in Public Communication from American University.
